Print ArticleI hope many of you were able to attend the show “High School Spoofical”. This high energy and funny show had great students and audience appeal.
We also had a visit from the Deputy Prime Minister Bill English to award our senior students with their Academic Blue. The Otago Daily Times published the “leaque tables” during the last school break and it was gratifying to see the high place of Taieri College results.
Mr English’s visit was short and we ran out of time for him to visit our Year 7 and 8 classes. However he insisted on not letting the students down and made time. Mr English saw three classes working. One class was using the new netbooks. Another was working on problem solving skills. We put a strong emphasis on literacy and we are fortunate to have Year 7/8 teachers skilled in teaching reading, a Literacy co-ordinator, Mrs Taylor and a reading tutor, Mrs Dalton.
On Monday interested parents of sportspeople met to explore the idea of a Sports Council to co-ordinate and support sporting codes at Taieri College. If you were unable to attend but are interested please ring our Sport Co-ordinator, Graeme Egan through the College office.
