It is exciting to hear of the level of interest in the new Sports Council from parents.  The inaugural meeting is scheduled for 31 May.  Already there appears to be a group of 13-14 parents and teachers interested in steering this important aspect of our College life.  Much of Year 7 and 8 sport takes place at club level or at the Edgar Centre, but we run the netball from here.  The Sports Department at Taieri College is looking at a series of Year 7/8 sport exchanges, one in Term 3 with Kavanagh and another with Kaikorai Valley at another date.  We are also looking at a sports meet with our local schools with teams at Year 5, 6, 7 and 8 involved in competition based around a range of codes.  Our sports facilities are superb with a gym, training and exercise room, indoor training centre, swimming pool, extensive fields and courts.  We are upgrading our netball courts, in fact the contractors started on the surfaces this week in preparation for pouring concrete, then the big rain came.  Over the next few weeks we will see the new surface laid.
