Kia ora tatou Senior reports for our NCEA students get issued today and will provide some excellent information as to how everyone is progressing towards their academic goals. Next week the reports are followed up with our end of term parent teacher interviews. I encourage parents and caregivers to make a time with teachers so they can share in what next steps can be taken in order for future academic success. Our interview booking website goes live at 4.00pm Friday 30 June 2017 and bookings do generally fill up quickly. I suggest that in order to obtain a time that suits, please log on as soon as possible. Last week our Year 7 and 8 students competed against Kavanagh in their annual winter sports exchange. This week it was the turn of several Year 9 and 10 students who participated in a co-ed schools sports tournament in Dunedin. I enjoyed watching the keenly fought competition and was particularly impressed with the form of our junior basketball teams who both went through the day undefeated. We finally have some activity around the construction of our new Performing Arts Centre. Surveyors have been on site over the last couple of weeks and they have prepared the site for initial excavation. As there is a slight trace of asbestos in the top soil, this excavation will take place during the holidays and appropriate precautions will be taken. At this stage things are still on track for construction to begin in November. Noho ora mai Dave Hunter Principal
