Kia ora tatou Over the past week the Aurora Otago Science and Technology Fair was at the Otago Museum. Several students from the college entered their Science Fair projects and we were thrilled to discover that many of them have received awards. I would like to make mention of two students, Karl Brinsdon and Rachel Cunningham whose projects were chosen to receive Premier Awards at this year’s event. Congratulations to Karl and Rachel on their outstanding achievements. Another big event in the school calendar is our Senior Assessment week. It is in Week 6 of this term. At senior assembly, this week all senior students were reminded about these examinations and encouraged to begin studying for them now. The assessment week provides opportunity for students to test themselves against examinations of a similar quality to the final NCEA examinations in November. These exams will also allow teachers to give helpful feedback to their students about how to improve their exam techniques, subject knowledge, and study programmes. Can I encourage you to check in with your senior students to see how their study for the upcoming assessment week is progressing? The Senior Assessment week timetable and procedures are attached to this newsletter. Finally, my thanks to those students who took part in and were responsible for organising the One Play Festival over the past two evenings. It was an excellent opportunity to showcase the many talented actors, artists, and dancers we have at the college. It was also a great opportunity for students to complete their NCEA directing standards. Thanks for your hard work and being willing to perform. Well done. Noho ora mai Brenton Hackfath
