Kia ora tatou Undoubtedly the highlight of the week was the fantastic performance of our wonderful Year 7 and 8 Stars on Stage performers.  The months of hard work learning, practicing and perfecting dance routines were worth the effort for the 85 students who took to the stage on Monday night.  My thanks to the many teachers and parents who supported these students and a special thank you to Bridget Phelan and Mel Christian who invested so much time and energy to create and coordinate our performance.  Well done. I would also like to congratulate all the students who have been competing for Taieri College during Tournament Week.  Our hockey, football, rugby, netball and basketballers have acquitted themselves admirably, showing excellent sportsmanship mixed with determination and skill.  Nearly all our teams will finish in the top eight of their respective competitions.  Congratulations to Kaylee Bezett, our sports prefect, who played her 100th game for the Senior A girls’ netball team this week during their tournament in Christchurch. Meanwhile, back at school our teachers have been steadily marking hundreds of senior examination papers from last week’s exams.  After receiving their grades senior students will be acutely aware of the areas in each of their subjects that they are performing well in along with those areas that need special attention.  I trust that your student/s will use their results as a basis for fine-tuning their own revision programme at home.  I encourage them to make good use of the final six weeks of school before the NCEA examinations start.  I would also remind students who would like extra help with their studies that our NCEA Boost programme continues to be available in the library after school each Thursday. Noho ora mai Brenton Hackfath
