Print ArticleWhat a glorious week to return to College!
The Year 7s and Year 9s started on Wednesday with the Year 13 students to support them to find their way around the College. We were gratified to see a number of parents to support their young people. Morning activities were classroom based and aimed at getting to know each other. One of the techniques that we use is called ‘Circle Time’. This is an opportunity for any queries or difficulties to be sorted out by talking them through. In the afternoon there was a mixture of field based activities and swimming.
I have had the opportunity to look at our NCEA results and they are very pleasing.
As you can see, at Level 1 84% of our students achieved literacy and 94% achieved numeracy. This is way beyond the National average and we are very proud of our student’s achievements.
The figures for Level 1, 2 and 3 certificates are also very pleasing. We out perform the National picture in all these qualifications and have an equal proportion of our students achieving University Entrance.
Individual students achieved a high number of credits and it was pleasing to see the number of certificates that were endorsed with merit and excellence. These top performing students will be identified as Academic Blues recipients at a ceremony to be arranged later this term.
