College Athletics Day
Wednesday 15th & Thursday 16th February 2012
Held early on in Term One each the Taieri College Athletic day is a chance for the school to come together and take part in athletics. This event each year brings forward the champions of each athletics discplines who go onto represent Taieri College at both the Otago Secondary Schools Athletics Champs and the Primary & Intermediate Athletics Champs.
Otago Secondary School Athletics Championship
Friday 9th & Saturday 10th March 2012
Held early in Term one this event sees the very best athletes from across Otago come together to compete for the Otago titles in each discpline. This event is held at the Caledondian Ground in Dunedin
Otago - Southland Secondary School Athletics Championship
Friday 16th & Saturday 17th March 2012 - Invercargill
The top athletes from each event at the Otago Champs are able to then go forward to contest the Otago - Southland Athletics Championships. This event is hosted between Dunedin and Invercargill on alternating years. The top five athletes from each discpline then selected to represent not only their school but also Otago & Southland at the South Island Secondary Schools Athletics championship.
South Island Secondary School Athletics Championship
Saturday 31st March & Sunday 1st April 2012 - Nelson
This event which rotates around the South Island is one of the largest and most contested athletic events in the country. Those athletes who are selected to represent their province are up against the very best athletes in the South Island.
New Zealand Secondary Schools Athletics Championship
Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th December 2012 - Dunedin
Held in late Term Four each year this event is the culmination of a full year of training and competition for secondary school athletes. This event draws on the very best athletes from around the country who are all strving to achieve personal bests and break national and international records.
