One initiative from this group is a Sports Academy. This is a very exciting venture which could have significant benefits for some of our young people. Although in the initial phase, we have promoted the Senior Sports Academy to our students in Year 11-13. Interested students are urged to apply for membership of the Senior Sports Academy for the second half of 2010. The programme will be a generic one featuring sports psychology, sports nutrition as well as practical skills in strategic play. Applications forms are available on the website and from the College Office.
In 2011 the Sports Academy will be extended to include Year 7 and 8 students and the start of a Middle Academy with Year 9 students initially. In 2012 Year 10 will become part of the Middle Academy.
Sponsorship
To run these programmes adequate financial resources are needed. The Sports Council has set up a Sponsorship sub-committee and this group is seeking expressions of interest from College families and businesses to have a first option to become a Platinum, Gold or Silver sponsor for the Sports Council. In the first instance, please leave a name and contact details at the College Office and David Kennedy who is leading the Sponsorship sub-committee will contact you with the details.
For those businesses or individuals who wish to have a significant role in sponsorship of sport at Taieri College we have set up a Premier Sponsorship deal. The details of this would be discussed with the Sponsorship Committee. |
