Taieri College Music Department
The dictionary defines music as “Vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion”. This is the foundation of all music at Taieri College. We have Choirs, Jazz band, Rock bands both in the Te Kainga and Senior school areas, and provide a variety of itinerant instrument lessons. We encourage creation through composition and enter Rockquest, Bandquest, Chamber Music, Big Sing, Jazz Festival, Secondary Schools Music Festival, Play it Strange song writing competition and the Who Love Who remixing competition. All students from Year 7 to 9 take part in the music course and there are independent senior classes from Year 10 onwards. If you can dream it, we can help you create it.
