We are proud to provide a dedicated team to fully support our international students from ensuring they receive a high level of education through to their needs of feeling welcome and comforted in a family environment while in New Zealand.
Kris Baker - International Director
Kris Baker, our new International Director at Taieri College, brings a rich background as a Japanese, Te Reo Māori, and English teacher. With extensive experience in cross-cultural exchange and education, she brings valuable insight to the International Department. Her experience running Language Departments, organising visiting groups, as well as leading numerous overseas tours, equips her with a unique ability to bridge cultural gaps and build meaningful international relationships. As International Director, Kris will apply her expertise and commitment to inter-cultural understanding to enhance the experience of our international students and promote diversity and inclusivity at Taieri College and beyond.
David Hunter - Principal
David Hunter serves as the principal of Taieri College, having taken on the role in 2013. Before this, he held the position of Principal at Maniototo Area School and Deputy Principal at Roxburgh Area School. An experienced educator, David initially trained as a Physical Education teacher. He has three children, all of whom attended Taieri College, with the youngest graduating last year. A passionate rugby enthusiast, David has coached both the Taieri College First XV and the Taieri Eels Premier Club team. He is eager to see the International Department flourish this year, and to warmly welcome our international students and short term visiting groups.
Gabby Kakahi - Homestay Administration
Gabby Kakahi is excited to have taken on the role of Homestay Administration for 2025. Raised in Dunedin and having spent her teen years at Taieri College, Gabby is familiar with the local community. Gabby has a strong passion for sports, with a particular interest in touch rugby, running, and swimming. Gabby also currently works as a Teacher Aide at Taieri College, a swim teacher, and coaches the school's Senior Touch Rugby Team. She looks forward to creating a supportive environment for both host families and students.
Hannah Bisset - Marketing Administration
Hannah Bisset is thrilled to be part of the International Department this year, focusing on marketing. In addition to her position at Taieri College, she also works as a Teacher Aide. Beyond Taieri College, Hannah is a passionate netballer – participating as a player, coaching, and working with several netball brands in the social media and content space. She is eager to showcase our fantastic school to the world and attract many international students!
