Appearance and Standard of Dress
Students are expected to wear the correct uniform at Taieri College and to and from Taieri College. Students are also expected to keep themselves and their clothing clean and tidy and to present a good image of themselves to the community. Taieri College jackets are the only jackets to be worn. Students who do not meet our standards of dress and appearance may be withdrawn from normal classes until the matter is resolved.

Hair must be clean and tidy at all times and needs to be safely restrained in specialist classes eg. Workshop, Food Technology. Extremes of style or colour are not permitted (eg. pinks, purple and non-natural colours). The Deputy Principals will be the final judge of what is allowed. When the hair is tied back, a plain blue or black band only is to be worn.
Boys must be clean-shaven.

There are a variety of shoes that are regulation shoes, all of which must be all black with a heel. The majority of these have four eyelets on each side of the shoe. If you are unsure, please see the Deputy Principals or refer to the guides below.

If students are wearing short-sleeved Taieri College shirts or blouses and wish to wear a polyprop or thermal, the polyprop or thermal should be plain white or navy and have short sleeves.
If students are wearing long-sleeved Taieri College shirts or blouses and wish to wear a polyprop or thermal, the polyprop or thermal should be plain white or navy.

Students have a choice to wear one neck piece that carries spiritual or emotional significance and is appropriate in the College setting. This may include items other than a Christian cross or pounamu emblem. It does not include anything connected to illegal or anti-social or gang activity, or anything that is so obvious that it detracts from the integrity of the uniform. The chain must be long enough to enable the emblem to fall below the collar line of the shirt or blouse.
Students may wear up to three small studs or sleepers in each ear. Studs are to be no more than 5mm in diameter. They are not to be intrusive or obvious. Students may wear a flat, plain ear stretcher up to 5mm, they must be flat and plain in colour; black, blue, silver or white.
No facial piercing will be allowed.
For reasons of safety, finger rings are not permitted.
Students may wear up to two small plain bracelets. These must be removed for Workshop, Physical Education, and Food without question or at the request of the teacher.
Students who choose to wear these jewellery items understand that they do so at their own risk. Students are to store items that need to be removed in a safe place. They cannot ask the teacher to take responsibility for them. If items go missing, Taieri College carries no responsibility for the jewellery.

Obvious makeup and coloured nail polish are not permitted.
